We often use hashtags on our social media services, and it’s common to “inject” the hashtag keywords in our text.
I recently saw a post on Mastodon that suggests that putting all hashtags on the bottom of our post is much better, especially when the user viewing is using a screen reader.
Why? Here’s an example post:
The quick brown #fox jumps over the lazy #dog. Pack my #box with five dozen #liquor jugs.
A screen reader will read that as:
the quick brown hashtag fox jumps over the lazy hashtag dog. pack my hashtag box with five dozen hashtag liquor jugs.
Try reading that aloud. Not good, right? If I put all hashtags under the post, it won’t sound as weird or confusing.
