Que ce soit pour avoir réussi à combiner association et employés à plein temps, ou par leur travaux sur la technique, ça faisait un moment qu’on avait repéré Indie Hosters chez Deuxfleurs. Hier, LX et moi avons eu la chance d’échanger un peu avec eux. Pour une première réunion, nous n’avions pas prévu d’ordre du jour, c’était simplement une prise de contact.
Lors des présentations, nous avons découvert un projet connexe à Garage, Unhost & remote-storage, qui m’a fait penser aussi un peu à SOLID de Tim Berners Lee. L’idée c’est que dans un monde du cloud, tu choisisses où tes données sont stockées, et après tu demandes aux webapp d’utiliser ton stockage pour leurs services, c’est un projet un peu connexe à Garage, à garder sous le coude.
On a enchaîné sur la stratégie de Deuxfleurs, et plus particulièrement comment on pensait fournir des services par dessus Garage. On a évoqué la question des emails qui fait parti de notre financement NGI (d’environ maintenant à juin), et on a fait un tour de pourquoi les solutions existantes ne nous convenaient pas.
Dans une second temps, on a focalisé sur l’hébergement de sites webs. Ils connaissent bien les gens de Plateaux Numériques, qui sont spécialisés là dedans. Au fil des échanges, Indie Hosters nous a confronté à un de leur besoin internes. Ils veulent voir si il pourrait être résolu avec Garage, et si possible sur leurs propres serveurs. Nous allons réfléchir à cette question pour leur faire des propositions.
Viens ensuite une question sur comment conjuguer activité commerciale et association sur le plan légal. Entre autre, on s’interroge sur la possibilité de cumuler une position dans une instance dirigeante de l’association et d’être salarié. Ils ont trouvé un comptable qui comprend bien leur domaine et leur permet d’avoir confiance sur ces questions là. Ils nous ont également fait part d’autres interrogations sur le plan légal lié au modèle associatif.
Enfin, nous concluons sur les modèles économiques possible autour de Garage. Indie Hosters nous fait remarquer que nous pourrions envisagé le modèle de la fondation comme pour le logiciel PostgreSQL.
On se quitte en prévoyant de continuer la discussion sur Matrix car il reste plein de choses à se dire et à approfondir !
